In this view, you can see the scalloped shadow effect under the brick planter wall cap.
This is caused by the "louvered header" brick course under the bullnose cap brick. A louver course has a corner of the brick facing out. Some masons call it a "dogs tooth" course. To see a closer view of a louvered header course, look near the bottom of this pilaster.
