This fireplace is solid brick and mortar construction, with Baja stone at the cap.
Fitting this brick fireplace into its corner location was a design challenge, as it acts as a structural support for the roof valley.
Within the bricks is a cantilevered, welded, steel framework that supports the heavy interior stone face; the steel framework is welded to steel bars embedded in the oversized concrete footing.
The white grate at the bottom left corner is the combustion air intake vent. This intakes combustion air for the fire from outside the house increasing overall heating efficiency by reducing warm interior air loss up the chimney.
The small black door at bottom center is the ash dump clean-out.
This custom brick fireplace is located in Fairbanks Ranch California.
