I installed this new masonry art face to an existing fireplace. The idea here, was to create the illusion of an old mine shaft entrance.
Slabs of blue stone and flat beach stones were used on the hearth and on the firewood storage area on the right. The wood around the opening is aged and burnt fir.
The small mantle piece is ebony wood. You can see this from another angle here. There is a patio outside of this room that looks like
