We just finished laying the new stone face on this existing Del Mar, California fireplace when this picture was taken.
After the mortar joints are dry the entire face is scrubbed with an acid wash.
When dry, the natural stone color really stands out and the mortar joint color is uniform.
This homeowner made his own mantle.
