The stone used here is quarried in Baja, Mexico. I have traveled through that area and have seen volcanic mountain ranges full of this stone.
This Baja stone is extremely dense and when cut, reveals a blue/gray interior, completely different looking than the jagged dark brown and black exterior.
There is a stone mantle of the same material. The hearth top is made of the same flagstone I used to make the entry walk for this house.
